Tibber Bridge connects compatible battery inverters to the Tibber app, allowing you to charge and discharge your home battery intelligently based on dynamic electricity prices.
Depending on your setup, Bridge can also connect supported Tibber Pulse devices.
What do I need?
Before getting started, make sure you have:
- A Tibber Bridge.
- The Tibber app.
- A 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network with WPA or WPA2 security.
- A compatible battery inverter.
You can check which battery inverters are supported under Power-ups → Tibber Bridge in the Tibber app.
How do I install Tibber Bridge?
- Open the Tibber app and go to Power-ups → Tibber Bridge → Connect.
- Scan the QR code on your Bridge.
- Plug Bridge into a power outlet.
- Follow the instructions to connect Bridge to your Wi-Fi network.
- Wait for Bridge to complete any necessary updates.
Once connected, Bridge automatically searches for compatible battery inverters on the same network and suggests them as Power-ups.
What happens after installation?
Once your battery inverter is connected, your home battery appears as a widget on the home screen of the Tibber app.
Bridge doesn't need to be physically close to your inverter. As long as both devices are connected to the same local network, they can communicate even if your inverter uses an Ethernet cable instead of Wi-Fi.
Can I connect Tibber Pulse to Bridge?
Tibber Bridge also supports certain Pulse devices, depending on your setup.
- Pulse IR: Uses Bridge to communicate with the Tibber app and read consumption data from compatible electricity meters.
- Pulse CT: Can connect through Bridge to provide additional energy monitoring data in supported setups.
Pulse P1, Pulse HAN and Pulse KM connect independently and don't communicate through Tibber Bridge.
To add a supported Pulse device to an existing Bridge, open Power-ups → Tibber Bridge → Settings and follow the instructions to add a new Pulse.
I can't connect Bridge to Wi-Fi
Tibber Bridge only supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi with WPA or WPA2 security.
If you're having trouble connecting:
- Make sure your router has a 2.4 GHz network enabled.
- Temporarily disable 5 GHz or band steering during setup.
- Check that the Wi-Fi signal is strong enough where Bridge is plugged in.
- Try connecting Bridge to a separate 2.4 GHz network if available.
If you're using a guest network, make sure it allows Bridge to communicate with your inverter on the local network.
My battery inverter isn't detected
If Bridge can't find your inverter, check that:
- Bridge and the inverter are connected to the same local network.
- Your inverter model is supported by Tibber.
- Your inverter is powered on and connected to the network.
Some inverter models may require additional configuration before they can communicate with Bridge. Check the relevant Power-up in the Tibber app for any model-specific instructions.
Installation still isn't working
If you still can't connect Bridge or your inverter, contact Support below or via the chat in the app.
Please include:
- The brand and model of your router.
- Any Wi-Fi extenders or mesh devices you're using.
- The brand and model of your battery inverter.
- A description of where the installation fails.
This helps us investigate the connection issue more quickly.
