Tibber Pulse and Bridge need a stable connection to communicate with the Tibber app. If you're having trouble connecting, there are a few things you can check.
Both devices support 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only. If you're using Pulse IR, it's the Bridge that connects to Wi-Fi, while Pulse communicates with Bridge.
My Wi-Fi network isn't showing up
If your network doesn't appear during installation, check that:
- Your router has a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network enabled.
- Your phone is connected to the same 2.4 GHz network during setup.
- The Wi-Fi signal is strong enough where Pulse or Bridge is installed.
Neither device supports 5 GHz Wi-Fi. Bridge supports WPA and WPA2 security, but not WPA3-only networks.
Pulse or Bridge won't connect
If your device can't connect to Wi-Fi:
- Double-check your Wi-Fi password.
- Temporarily disable any VPN, ad blocker or iCloud Private Relay on your phone.
- Move Pulse or Bridge closer to your router or Wi-Fi access point.
- Restart the installation process in the Tibber app.
If you're using Bridge, make sure your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password are each no longer than 30 characters.
I'm using a mesh Wi-Fi network
Mesh networks can sometimes interfere with the connection during setup.
Try the following:
- Make sure your phone and Pulse or Bridge are connected to the same Wi-Fi access point.
- Temporarily disable 5 GHz or band steering in your router settings.
- Connect your phone manually to the 2.4 GHz network.
- If necessary, temporarily disable additional mesh nodes and complete the installation using your main router.
Once the connection is established, you can restore your usual network settings.
I've changed my router or Wi-Fi network
If you've changed your router, network name or password, you'll need to update the Wi-Fi connection.
For Tibber Pulse: Open the Tibber app and follow the Pulse connection steps under Power-ups to connect it to your new network.
For Tibber Bridge: Go to Power-ups → Tibber Bridge → Settings → Wi-Fi connection → Change Wi-Fi network.
Follow the instructions in the app to complete the connection.
My device connects to Wi-Fi but remains offline
If Pulse or Bridge connects to your router but can't communicate with Tibber, check that:
- Your internet connection is working.
- Your router or firewall allows outgoing traffic on port 8883 (encrypted MQTT).
- The Wi-Fi signal is stable at the device's location.
If you're using Bridge, restart both Bridge and your router, then check the connection status in the app.
The connection still isn't working
If you've tried these steps and your device still won't connect, contact Support below or via the chat in the app.
Please include:

- The brand and model of your router.
- Any mesh devices or Wi-Fi extenders you're using.
- The colour or blinking pattern of the device's LED.
- A short description of where the connection fails.
This helps us identify the issue and get your device connected.
