Even if your car can't connect directly to Tibber, you can still use Smart Charging through a compatible EV charger.
Tibber controls the charger instead of the car, so you'll need a supported EV charger connected to the Tibber app.
Setting up a non-integrated car
- Open the Tibber app and go to You → Electric cars.
- Select Non-integrated.
- Choose your car's brand. If it's not listed, select Tibber.
- Enter your car's battery capacity.
You can check supported EV chargers under Power-ups in the Tibber app.
Updating your battery level
Because Tibber can't read the battery level of a non-integrated car, you'll need to update it manually before each charging session.
For example, if your battery is at 20%, enter 20%. Tibber will calculate a charging schedule for the remaining 80%.
Using a charging limit in your car? You'll need to account for this when entering the battery level. For example, if your car is limited to 80% and currently has 20%, enter 40% in Tibber to account for the 20% that won't be charged.
If you don't update the battery level, your charging schedule may be inaccurate and your car might not reach the expected level before departure.
How does Smart Charging work?
Tibber schedules charging to 100% by default.
If you want to charge to a lower level, set the charging limit directly in your car. Charging will stop automatically when that limit is reached.
If you use multiple EV chargers, make sure the correct one is selected under Charging with in the app.
When should I use a non-integrated car?
This option is useful when:
- Your car isn't supported by Tibber.
- Your car's connection to Tibber temporarily isn't working.
- Your car doesn't have an internet connection.
Smart Charging can still work through your connected EV charger.
Smart Charging isn't working
Check that:
- You've selected the correct EV charger.
- Your car's current battery level is entered correctly.
- Your EV charger supports Smart Charging and is connected to Tibber.
If the problem continues, contact Support below or via the chat in the app. Include your car's brand, your charger's brand and model, and any error messages.
