Does Pulse need to be installed by an electrician?

Pulse does not need to be installed by an electrician. You can do this yourself. Read more here about how to install and position Pulse.

Does Pulse work without a Tibber subscription?

Pulse also works without a Tibber subscription. However, Pulse will only give you a real-time overview of your electricity consumption, not a historical overview.

Can I see what I'm using electricity on with Tibber Pulse?

Pulse does not show exactly what is using electricity in your home. However, Pulse can help you find out. By turning different power sources on or off, while keeping an eye on the app, you can instantly see how the Pulse graph in the app goes up or down. This way you can find out which gadgets are drawing the most power in your home.

How does load balancing with Tibber Pulse work?

Load balancing with Tibber Pulse works like this:

  1. Tibber Pulse monitors the power consumption of the main fuse in your home and sends this to Tibber.

  2. When the consumption approaches the main fuse's maximum load, Tibber lowers the charging speed of the charging box.

  3. As soon as the total consumption goes down, Tibber increases the charging speed again.

This way you avoid overloading your main fuse.

I have switched WiFi routes. How do I get Pulse working again?

To get Pulse working again, after switching WiFI routes, you have two options:

Option 1: Give your new WiFi network the same name and password as the previous one. Pulse will then continue to work.

Option 2: Set up Pulse again. Here's how to do it:

  1. Disconnect Pulse under "Power-ups" in the app

  2. Disconnect Pulse from the HAN port in the fuse box

  3. Connect Pulse to USB power (not applicable for Pulse KM)

  4. Press the small reset button on the side (use a thin object)

  5. When the Pulse has a stable green light, you can reconnect it in the app under "Power-ups". Leave Pulse connected to USB power throughout the installation.

  6. Follow the instructions on the screen

๐Ÿค” If you can't connect your Pulse after following this recipe, try unplugging the router for at least 30 seconds before trying again.

๐Ÿ’ก Local network sharing must be enabled for Tibber on your router. This can be activated via settings on some cell phones.

Can I connect Pulse to 4G?

Pulse does not have a sim card and cannot be connected directly to 4G. However, if you have a 4G router with a built-in sim card that transmits via 2.4GHz, Pulse can be connected via this.

Why are there so many regular peaks in my Pulse graph?

This is completely normal and is usually due to one or more electrical heating devices being turned on, such as:

  • Electric heaters

  • Air-to-air heat pumps

  • Hot water tanks

  • Dehumidifiers

  • Electric heating cables

What are fuse and phases?

A fuse is a small gadget that monitors the load on the wires it is connected to. If the load goes above the level the fuse is designed for, it will break the connection so that no electricity passes through it.

Phases is another word for cables, usually used to describe the cable or cables that carry electricity from the grid to your home.

Why am I missing a phase in the app?

Some electricity meters connected to 3-phase IT networks will only show the load on two phases in our app. ๏ปฟThe total consumption shown in the app is still correct. Load balancing will also work as it should.

For the extra interested ๐Ÿค“๐Ÿ‘‡

The measurement method in meters for IT networks is often based on so-called 2-system metering or Aron coupling, which means that only two of the phases are measured and not all three.

The meters in question are: Aidon 6525, Landis+Gyr E350, Embriq Politerm800 and Kaifa/Nuri MA304T3. These only send us information about the load on phases L1 and L3, but this is sufficient to measure the total energy you are consuming.
