Tibber processes your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You can find out what data we collect and why in our Privacy Policy, available in the Tibber app and on our website.
What rights do I have?
You can request access to your personal data, ask us to correct or delete it, or request a copy.
To exercise these rights, start a chat in the Tibber app. Make sure you're logged into your Tibber account so we can verify your identity and help you with your personal data.
How does Tibber use my device data?
We use data from your connected devices, such as electric vehicles, chargers, heat pumps, solar inverters and home batteries, to provide the features and automations in the Tibber app.
This includes:
- Smart Charging for your electric vehicle.
- Smart control of your home battery.
- Real-time insights into your energy consumption and production.
We only use the data needed for these features and don't share it with third parties without your consent.
For example, Smart Charging needs to know whether your car is at home and how much battery charge it has. We don't need to track your precise location for this.
For more information about the data your devices generate, see our Data Act Policy.
How is my data protected?
We handle your personal data confidentially and in accordance with GDPR.
To protect your privacy, we only provide access to your personal account information when you're logged in. Our AI assistant also requires you to be logged in before it can access your account information and provide personalized answers.
Can I access my device data?
You can access real-time data from your connected devices through the Tibber Data API.
If you'd like a complete copy of your personal data, request it through the chat in the Tibber app.
Can I share my data with other services?
Yes. You can share your data through the Tibber API or give a partner access through an authorization process such as OAuth.
Want to stop sharing? Revoke access in the partner's app or service where you originally gave permission.
Once access is revoked, the partner can no longer retrieve new data from Tibber.
How do I delete my account?
How you delete your account depends on whether you have an active electricity contract.
If you don't have an active electricity contract:
You can delete your account directly in the Tibber app:
- Go to You → Account → Profile → Delete account.
- Disconnect all your Power-ups before deleting your account.
- Follow the instructions to complete the deletion.
If you have an active electricity contract:
Account deletion is handled through Support.
- Cancel your electricity contract.
- Pay your final invoice.
- Disconnect all your Power-ups.
- Contact Tibber Support to request account deletion.
When your account is deleted, we remove personal data that we no longer have a legal basis to retain. This may include login details, app data, support history, purchase information, marketing data and consumption analyses.
Please note: Account deletion cannot be undone. Some information must be retained for legal reasons, such as accounting and energy regulations. We'll delete this data once we're legally allowed to do so.
