Load balancing with Pulse

How load balancing works

Updated over 2 years ago

When you connect Tibber Pulse to your electricity meter, it can read how high the load is in the different phases in your home. You can add how much your main fuse can handle. This way Pulse can see how high the load is in relation to the size of your main fuse at any given time. Click on the βš™οΈ to find settings for Pulse.

If you have a charger that is integrated with Tibber, you can activate load balancing in the settings of the charger and Tibber Pulse.

How load balancing works:

Load balancing gives us the opportunity to send commands to the charger to lower the charging speed when the load on the main fuse is so high that there is a danger that the main fuse may blow out. When there is free capacity on the main fuse, we will of course increase the charging speed too πŸ˜ƒ

Load balancing illustrated.

The advantage of load balancing is therefore that you can choose to have a larger circuit fuse for the charger, and thus a higher potential charging speed, than if you didn't have the option of load balancing, even with smaller main fuses.
