Curious about how much power you’re using right now, or looking for better control of your home’s energy flow? That’s where Pulse CT comes in!
What is Pulse CT?
Pulse CT is Tibber’s smart real-time electricity meter. Unlike traditional meters, it connects directly to the cables inside your electrical panel. That means it works with any type of electricity meter you already have at home.
With Pulse CT, you’ll see your energy use in the Tibber app in real time — right down to updates every few seconds.
How Pulse CT Works
Here’s how the system fits together:
CT Clamps → Clip around your electrical cables to measure the amount of electricity flowing through.
Pulse CT Unit → Collects the readings from the clamps.
Pulse Bridge → Sends all that data wirelessly to the Tibber app via WiFi.
Pulse CT takes measurements as often as every 3 seconds, giving you a super-detailed look at how much electricity you’re using — and when.
Why Use Pulse CT?
Detailed Energy Insights
Track your consumption in real time and spot the appliances or times of day that use the most power.
Load Balancing for Charging
Pulse CT can help balance loads across Tibber-integrated EV chargers, preventing overloads and keeping things efficient.
Replace Old Systems
It’s a modern alternative to older load balancers (like Watty) that also use CT clamps.
Installing Pulse CT
Important: Installing the CT clamps inside your electrical panel must be done by a certified electrician for safety reasons.
After installation, it can take 10–20 minutes for Pulse CT to detect the current in your cables and begin showing data in the app.
This delay is normal! Pulse CT is calibrating itself to your specific electrical setup.
If you still don’t see any data after 20 minutes, try restarting the Pulse Bridge. Still stuck? Contact Tibber support for help.
Pulse CT and Homevolt
Do you have Homevolt?
If your Pulse CT came with a Homevolt battery system, it cannot be paired with the Tibber app. It’s reserved exclusively for Homevolt operations.
Pairing it with the Tibber app can cause data conflicts (no black holes, we promise — but it’s still a mess to fix!).
Want Pulse CT for separate use in the Tibber app? No problem! You can buy extra Pulse CT units and Pulse Bridges from the Tibber Store.
Always double-check with Tibber if you’re unsure which Pulse CT version you have.
Powering Pulse CT
Pulse CT is powered by:
2× AA/LR6 1.5V batteries
OR via a Micro-USB cable
Batteries:
You can use rechargeable batteries, but Pulse CT does not charge them, even when powered via USB.
The blue batteries that come with Pulse CT are not rechargeable.
Tip: We strongly recommend using Lithium-type AA batteries. They last 2–4 times longer than regular alkaline batteries.
Using USB Power
Prefer powering Pulse CT via USB instead of batteries? Absolutely!
Just use a Micro-USB cable and connect it to a suitable USB power supply.
